PhD student in Engineering Physics, development of optical fiber materials

Department of Engineering, Mathematics and Science Education

Description of the Department: The Department of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science Education (IMD) is primarily located at Campus Sundsvall, where we conduct education and research in physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, technical design, and engineering physics.

At the FSCN research center (www.fscn.se), we have a strong research environment in materials and process technology. Here, we develop knowledge and technology that enable resource-efficient process solutions and new or improved functionality in bio-based and advanced nanomaterials. Collaboration with industry is important to us, and we strive to contribute to improved sustainability and profitability for our partners.

The research group in Advanced Materials and Processes at IMD is part of FSCN and primarily focuses on nanomaterials with applications in energy storage and energy conversion. For example, we develop methods for large-scale production and processing of nanomaterials using laser technology. We are now seeking a PhD student for research in advanced nanomaterials for the development of optical fiber lasers.

The doctoral position is part of the international research school IRS TransTech, where you will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading international universities and Swedish companies. The research school focuses on transformative technologies such as AI, IoT, and advanced materials, with the goal of driving sustainable industrial development and strengthening international research and business networks.
