Master by research in Tourism
Be a part of our research team! The Masters by Research program within tourism studies is undertaken in collaboration with researchers at ETOUR – Sweden’s largest tourism research environment. ETOUR has over twenty years’ experience in developing and communicating research.
The Masters by Research program gives you the unique opportunity to strengthen your knowledge of tourism as you get to plan and conduct a research project together with a senior researcher and potentially external partners. The full-time program is lasting two years and largely consists of your research work within your research group. At the same time, you are enrolled in courses with other Masters level programs.

Entry requirements
In order to apply, you must have a Bachelor’s level degree of at least 180hp within a relevant subject, for example tourism studies, human geography or another social science subject. Moreover, you are required to have level 6 English skills/ English from a Swedish high school or equivalent.
Selection
In selecting applicants, great emphasis is placed on the candidate’s skills in relation to the chosen subject matter of their research project. This includes your analytical ability, your ability to express yourself well in written English, your ability to work independently and in a group, as well as the scientific quality of any previous independent work. Along with your application, you will include a personal application letter. After successful pre-selection, a selection of applicants will be invited for an interview.

Please note that in addition to your application You must also submit a letter stating your interest in the programme and describe your interests in different fields within Tourism. Describe your previous background relevant to the subject and attach your Bachelor´s thesis or similar individual projects that You wish to refer to.
