Processing of personal data
In the case of handling applications for a certificate or matters regarding credit transfer and questions about such applications, your personal data will be processed by the Degree Office compliance with GDPR. If needed, the responsible person, unit or academic department within the organization is contacted. Outside of the organization, your personal data may be used for verification purposes, contacts with other seats of learning as well as with the National Board of Health and Welfare in the context of information-gathering procedures, such as the checking the professional status qualification of nurses.
Mid Sweden University is a government authority and as such, we act in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations on public records storage and public statistics. The University will process data in accordance with current legislation. This means for instance that if a person requests a document containing your personal data, Mid Sweden University may disclose the information, if the document is not classified. If requested, your personal data may be transferred digitally to a third country, e.g verification of studies. In these cases we will request your consent, provided we have your correct contact information.

Your personal data is saved as long as this is required according to the public procurement law and the archives of government authorities. This means that your degree certificate will be saved at Mid Sweden University for all time. Information about your application kept in the student registry will be discarded in accordance with the regulations of the Swedish National Archives, and be followed up in accordance with common national processes. Credit transfer applications and decisions are saved for all times in accordance with the applicable regulation of the Swedish National Archives. Information about your application in the task management system is discarded. You have the right to gain access to, and, if this is the case, have your personal data corrected. Should you, for instance, find an inaccuracy in your degree certificate, please contact the Degree Office at once to have your data corrected, examen@miun.se. You have the right to submit a complaint regarding the handling of your personal data to the Mid Sweden University Data Controller or directly to the Swedish Data Protection Agency.
