Erasmusutbyte London

Background and purpose

This call is part of the faculty's ambition to increase the internationalisation of research through increased exchange with research environments outside Sweden with a focus on doctoral students.

The call provides targeted support for exchanges with external research groups to develop existing contacts and establish new research collaborations.

The needs of doctoral students will be the focus of this activity, which aims to establish new and strengthen existing research contacts and external partners, make Mid Sweden University's research visible and support the work with joint applications within the EU.

How much funding can be applied for and who should apply?

  • Up to SEK 50,000 applied for by a supervisor
  • Granted funds must be used up in 2026.

What can the funds be used for?

Outgoing doctoral students

Travelling to visit other research groups, where at least one doctoral student is travelling. Funds can also be used for supervisors or other participants from Miun to accompany them. The purpose of the outward trip may be an exchange with another research group or a stay at another university, research institute or company with which there is collaboration. Funds can be used to strengthen funding via Erasmus+/BIP/ChallengeEU in cases where the trip takes place to one of our partner universities, which enables longer stays. As the provision of the opportunity to travel to international research conferences is considered to be part of the department's responsibility, conference participation and similar activities may not be undertaken with this funding.

Incoming researchers

Costs for travel, accommodation and other expenses for incoming researchers/doctoral students in connection with research visits, seminars, and workshops at Miun. This will mainly be aimed at inviting established researchers with whom collaboration is intended to be established or to strengthen existing collaborations. Funds can also be used for incoming researchers' colleagues or doctoral students. Funds can be used to extend stays that are planned in connection with active participation in a dissertation/licentiate seminar or conference at Miun or equivalent.

When should the application be made?

Applications for support will be processed on an ongoing basis at regular FUR meetings in 2026.

How should the application be made?

The application is submitted to the Council for Doctoral Education (FUR), which decides on the support. The application (maximum 1 page) must contain

  • Brief description of the doctoral student/researcher/research group to which the exchange relates
  • Brief justification why the group needs this contact where the doctoral student perspective is highlighted
  • A general description of how the exchange is planned in time and scope
  • A simpler compilation and distribution of costs for the planned exchange as justification for the amount applied for
  • When leaving, it is a requirement that the individual study plan for the intended doctoral student is established, and that the progression is deemed sufficient to justify the possible set-up time that may result from an exchange.

What happens next?

Those who receive applications will receive further information about financial management and follow-up after completing the exchange.
