Are you on top of cybersecurity? Throughout October, we will be running a campaign on information security on the web.

We are conducting a joint campaign with Umeå University and Luleå University of Technology to raise awareness about information security among employees and students. The aim of the campaign is to use facts and educational materials to create a good cyber security culture at our universities.

Cyber Security Month gives us an excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of information security for both staff and students.

Our collaboration with Umeå University and Luleå University of Technology feels extra good as it is collaborations in this type of issue that are required for us to succeed, says Helena Wallskog, Head of the Division of Infrastructure but also CISO, Chief Information Security Officer.

October is the EU's Information Security Month, European Cyber Security Month – ECSM, and is organised by the EU's Network and Information Security Agency, ENISA. In Sweden, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB, and the Police are organising the "Think Safe" campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness and knowledge about information and cyber security, vulnerabilities and risks, as well as strengthen the ability to protect against crime.

As an employee and student at Mid Sweden University, you need to know how to handle information and digital tools in a secure way in your work.

Employees are the organization's primary protection against information security risks.

Even the most advanced technology is insufficient if employees lack an understanding of threats and proper security procedures. Through structured training and regular information dissemination, we can not only reduce the risk of human error, but also strengthen the resilience of the organization. Promoting a security-conscious culture where every individual actively contributes to protecting information and resources is a central component of sustainable security work," says Helena Wallskog, adding:

Information security is an ongoing work where our knowledge and our actions are crucial. The goal for us at Mid Sweden University is for our employees and students to be more cunning than mischief.
