Aim
The course will provide students with knowledge of perception, cognition, learning and emotion. The various areas are defined and problematized.
Course objectives
On completion of the course students will be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
• Define the concepts perception, emotion, cognition and learning and problematize, discuss and compare these concepts.
• Have an understanding how the process related to the concepts interact with each other.
• Generally describe the chain of information processing and reaction, from perception to metacognition.
• Based on experimental learning psychology understand and explain basic learning principles.
• Understand the central aspects of emotion regulation and emotionperception
Competence and skills
• Carry out a simple behaviour analysis in terms of operant and respondent behaviours.
• Give examples of methods that can be used for scientific analysis of perceptual, cognitive, learning and emotional phenomena.
• Identify the emotional theoretical perspective of a given text.
Judgement and approach
• Identify areas where the level of knowledge is unclear or controversies exist.
Content
The course gives an introduction to and deepening in the areas: Sensory and perception, cognition, experimental learning psychology, and emotion as an integrative perspective on human behavior and information processing. For all areas theoretical knowledge, as well as practical applications in the form of laboratory work, will be given. The four areas are studied in parallel during the course period.

General entry requirements + English course 6 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or the equivalent.
