Aim
By working in an individual project the student should acquire knowledge in specific areas within the Ecotechnology field and also achieve an orientation on work with environmental science solutions in some ongoing research topics within the department. The student should also acquire skills in conveying complex, scientific results in a concise manner in the format of a poster.
Course objectives
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
1. apply scientific methodology to carry out an environmental science project related to ongoing research at the department.
2. summarize the current state of knowledge within the framework of the chosen project task.
3. in English present the project results in a concise and scientific way with a poster in a conference-like situation.
4. in English present and defend the project results at an open seminar.
Content
The course includes an environmental science project related to current research at the department. Project work can be carried out individually or in small groups.
Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor of at least 180 credits (180 ECTS) or equivalent, with at least 45 credits (45 ECTS) in Environmental Science.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The student will complete a task (individually or in a small group) that is relevant to the research activities at the department. The subject must be approved by the course supervisor and should have an environmental science focus. Students will learn basic principles for designing a scientific poster. Students will be assigned a project supervisor based on the selected project. The supervisor provides continuous guidance to the student during the course of the project.
Examination form
LITT: Literature examination, 3 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
Oral examination of the selected literature.
P100: Project work and poster presentation, 12 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
The project is presented as a poster. The student shall actively participate in discussions in relation to the other students presentation.

The examiner has the right to offer alternative examination arrangements to students who have been granted the right to special support by Mid Sweden University’s disabilities adviser.
Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
