Aim
The purpose of the one year master's degree project is to provide the student with basic knowledge of the research process and to make a contribution in the field of additive manufacturing.
Course objectives
After successfully completing the course the students will be able to:
- Plan their time effectively to solve a task.
- Independently, based on a given problem, identify and formulate appropriate questions and limitations.
- Seek necessary knowledge, including previous research within additive manufacturing, that is relevant to solving the task and interpreting the results.
- Apply relevant knowledge, skills, and established methods within the field of technology to solve the task.
- Orally present the studied problem, the methods used, the results obtained, and the conclusions drawn based on the results.
- Document the conducted work in a report, applying accepted norms for language proficiency and specified standards for academic writing.
- Critically evaluate the technical solution, discuss the choice of methods, and assess the reliability, validity, and generalizability of the results, as well as the new knowledge contributed by the study.
- Critically review another project and conduct an opposition on the work according to given standards.
- Assess the scientific, societal, and ethical aspects relevant to the study
- Reflect on pertinent social, economic, and environmental aspects related to additive manufacturing
Content
Application within the field of technology on a task that does not have a predetermined solution. The course includes: problem formulation, project planning, problem solving, scientific method, documentation in the form of a written report, as well as oral presentation and opposition.
Entry requirements
Admitted to Master's Programme (one year) in Additive Manufacturing, at least 22.5 credits of courses within the programme including Mechanical Engineering MA, Scientific Writing, Method and Presentation Technique, 7.5 credits.
