Course objectives
After completing the course the student is expected to be able to
- apply the methods presented and be able to explain the basic principles of Material flow accounting, Material flow analysis/Substance flow analysis and Life cycle assessment (LCA)
- identify the most relevant flows from an environmental perspective in societal technical systems.
- discuss applications and limitations with LCA
- write an LCA-report according to the criteria and terminology given in ISO14040.
Content
The course includes lectures as a base, and an LCA project work. The lectures cover basic principles for LCA supported by applicable ISO standard, methodology how to perform an LCA-study, critical analysis of the result and relation to societal sustainability goals and out from this an overall result analysis.
