Aim
The aim of the course is to give basic knowledge in conducting quantitative research projects, e.g. surveys.
Course objectives
The purpose of the course is to develop the skill of the students to formulate and study quantitative research problems in the business sector. This includes:
- Independently be able to formulate a quantitative research problem
- Being able to design a study – including sampling, collecting data and to use different techniques for analyzing data – appropriate for such a research problem.
- Being able to understand and use the most common statistical techniques for analysis of data, both for descriptive and causal purposes.
Content
The course describes the quantitative research process from design – via collecting and processing data – to data analysis. Students will learn to choose appropriate research method for a particular research problem. Important parts of the course are: selection of sample, choice of method for collecting data, constructing a questionnaire, and choice of statistical methods for analysing data. Students will get both theoretical and practical knowledge about those steps in the quantitative research process. A variety of different statistical techniques of analysis will be taught, with an emphasis on different bivariate and multivariate analyses of relationships between variables, like correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis.
Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor (180 H E Credits) with 90 H E Credits in Business Administration.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The course includes lectures, seminars, computer laboratory lessons, and tutoring on course papers. There is a need for an active participation and some parts are compulsory. The course also includes a great part of individual studies.
Examination form
Examination by written individual test and/or compulsory course papers.
Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
