Aim
The purpose of the course is to provide the student with knowledge about qualitative methods that they are able to apply in future studies and research endeavours. Furthermore, the purpose is that the student shall acquire the habit of critically scrutinising his or her own research as well as research conducted by other researchers.
Course objectives
After passing the course, the student shall be able to:
- present the premises behind qualitative methods in relation to quantitative methods.
- identify an discuss the strengths and weaknesses of qualitative methods
- develop a qualitative research design for a selected research problem.
Content
The course is focusing on the qualitative research process, with an emphasis on the relationship between research problems and methodological choices. Different data gathering and analysis topics are described and discussed with an emphasis on their relevance for Business Administrative oriented research questions. The problem of the trustworthiness of qualitative research is addressed, and a critical comparison is made of how the qualitative method has been applied in different studies.
Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor (180 H E Credits) with 90 H E Credits in Business Administration or corresponding education.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The training is conducted as lectures, seminars and tutoring. The language used in the training is English
Examination form
The examination is made through written test and mandatory assignments that are presented in seminars.

Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
