Aim
The aim of the course is to stimulate to a reflective and critical approach to theories and practical applications within leadership and business ethics, particularly when it comes to the links between leadership and concepts like organizational culture, performance and change.
Course objectives
After attending the course the student should be able to
- Define and explain central concepts within leadership and business ethics
- Independently discuss and critically evaluate leadership and business ethics in a multi-dimensional environment and to understand the links between leadership, performance and organizational change
- Analyze, distinguish, and formulate business administrational problems and independently gather and deal with material from formulated issues regarding leadership, performance and organizational change
- Independently delineate, design, and work out a written task with relevance for theory and issue and using business administrational methods
- Independently accomplish an opposition, actively and independently contribute in seminar discussions, and present articles and own work
Content
The course deals partly with classical and contemporary leadership theories, partly with contemporary knowledge about what leaders/managers really do. Particular attention is directed to the practical application of the theories. In addition to this the course deals with theories about business ethics and their importance for leaders/managers and co-workers.
Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor (180 Credits) with 90 Credits in Business Administration or corresponding education.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The core topics of the course will be covered by lectures, literature seminars, and different kinds of exercises. When appropriate guest lecturers will be invited. Attending the seminars is compulsory.
Limitations: Teaching and support from responsible teacher is offered only during the course period for which the student is admitted to.

4000: Exam, 4.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
4001: Assignment 1, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
4002: Assignment 2, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
The examination is made through written test and course papers.
