To a large extent, international trade and global exchanges of labor force and capital takes place within regionally integrated trade areas. In this course, we study the theories that explain the purpose and effect of monetary unions, a specific type of trade area. We also study the macroeconomic impact of a monetary union and the economic policy used within the geographical area.
