Nursing means helping and supporting a person and their family in their daily life with a focus on health. It is an independent field of knowledge for which the nurse is responsible. Working with health involves preventing and improving health, as well as restoring and maintaining it.
The key concepts of nursing science are people, health, environment and nursing actions. The scientific subject of nursing aims to make care better, safer and equal for individual patients and groups of patients as well as for their relatives.
Nursing research can advantageously be conducted in collaboration with other fields of knowledge such as medicine, health sciences or psychology. The research concerns people of all ages and is based on a holistic view of the human being.
