Perspectives on work and mental health among young adults
Mental illness is increasing among young adults. In order to strengthen the conditions for young adults with experience of mental illness to feel good in relation to work, more knowledge is needed about how they view work and mental health.
The overall goal of this project is to highlight how young adults with experience of mental illness view work and mental health in relation to work.
Photovoice was used as research method, which included the participants taking photographs in their everyday life and then discussing their images together with others, in order to find common themes and ways to influence and contribute to change in society.
During the autumn and winter of 2022/23, a group of 18-year-olds in Östersund photographed and discussed the topic of work and mental health. Together they developed the theme "Activities that contribute to mental health!", which was presented in a photo exhibition in the library of Mid Sweden University, campus Östersund, during the fall of 2023. From January 31 2024 you can see the exhibition at Café Tingshuset in Östersund.
