In2track3 – detection of various pollutants on rails
In collaboration with Luleå University of Technology, Mid Sweden University and STC will design a prototype sensor for the detection of various pollutants on rails over the cross-section of the rails.
The assignment comes from the Swedish Transport Administration and the aim is to investigate the possibility of controlling the distribution of, for example, lubrication, ice, leaves and similar contaminations of the rail surface.
The prototype is planned to be designed with lighting that is modulated so that the measurements will be independent of ambient light, and it will be evaluated in a controlled indoor environment.
The project is funded through funds from the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking whick is a part of Horizon 2020 – the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
