Development of the Swedish version of BFI‑2, Big Five Inventory
The BFI-2 is an updated and psychometrically better personality test than the original version. In collaboration with our students and the authors of the test, we are now developing the Swedish version.
The BFI-2 measures the five personality dimensions Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Negative emotionality and Openmindedness. What has been further developed since the BFI-1 is:
- that the test also captures three facets, or subdimensions to each personality dimension,
- that what was previously called neuroticism has been given a new name, negative emotionality, which better corresponds to the content of the dimension,
- that the dimension that was previously called Openness is now called Openmindedness, to clarify the content of this dimension. In addition, the test is completely balanced, both regarding the number of statements (items) per dimension and facet, as well as regarding statements that characterize a high level of the dimension and its opposite.
In a series of studies, the test's reliability and validity are analyzed in relation to mental health, social behavior and work and organizational psychological experiences.
