The International Biathlon Federation (IBU) wants to recruit children and young people
The International Biathlon Federation arranged the Kids & Youth Recruitment Forum in Östersund as part of the IBU's Biathlon4All project. They want more young athletes to try biathlon. They gathered 50 participants from 34 countries.
The event was arranged in collaboration with Mid Sweden University and the Swedish Biathlon Association, workshops and seminars were held both on Campus and at Östersund's ski stadium. Our biathlon professor Marko Laaksonen was there, he was happy that so many nations were present.
"It was gratifying to see that so many different nations, from India and Taiwan to such a large nation in biathlon as Norway, found their way to Mid Sweden University and Östersund to take part in scientific knowledge in a more popular scientific form. Everyone shared their experiences and brainstormed about recruiting biathletes in the future. Biathlon is truly a growing sport globally!", says Marko Laaksonen.
