Elektrovation seeks new solutions to challenges in the electricity grid

The energy systems are facing major challenges with a need for increased electrification and a larger proportion of green energy sources to reduce fossil emissions. To meet the challenges and develop solutions, Mid Sweden University's research center STC has started the project Electrovation.

For the second year in a row, Unga Bünsow was arranged in Sundsvall. An event that creates a meeting place for students and the business community. Included in the program was STC's leader, Prof. Mattias O'Nils, who discussed how AI and IoT affect work opportunities in the region.

ENSURE 6G gathered in Sundsvall

For the first time, the members of the ENSURE 6G project were gathered in Sundsvall for an in-person meeting. Over the course of three dynamic days, participants engaged in project discussions, collaborative workshops, insightful lectures, and an IoT exhibition.

Launch of Nordic Collaboration in Remote Control

Mid Sweden University and the University of Oulu in Finland are starting a new collaboration to develop technologies for enhanced presence in remote control. In September, the research group met for the first time in Sundsvall.

From master's student to professor - AI & sound researcher Jan Lundgren

On October 4, it was time for Mid Sweden University's Academic Ceremony where new doctors are promoted and new professors are inaugurated. Mid Sweden University's researcher Jan Lundgren was one of the professors who was inaugurated. Jan, who once started as a master's student at Mid Sweden University.

Farangis Foroughi is a new PhD-student at Mid Sweden University. Her research will focus on using X-ray imaging to study lung inflammation.

STC at ServaNet's IoT Fair

For the third year in a row, ServaNet arranged an IoT fair at Södra Berget in Sundsvall and this year the event drew a record audience! STC Research Center was on site to present and showcase the latest research results and meet the participants.

Adam presents his work on a halftime seminar

Last week, industrial PhD-student Adam Lundström, presented his work in a halftime seminar "AI for predictive and condition-based maintenance". Invited as opponent was Prof. Tomas Nordström from Umeå University.

Harsh Verdhan Singh is a new Postdoctoral researcher at Mid Sweden University. His research focuses on RF and Antenna Design for IoT applications. Harsh will explore the critical role of RF technologies in advancing industries such as healthcare, defense, telecommunications, and automotive.

Meet Quynh – New PhD-student in electronics

Quynh Nguyen Phuong Vu has joined Mid Sweden University as a PhD student, focusing on advancing on-device learning for resource-constrained devices. Quynh is also a part of the International Research School in Transformative Technology.

Meet Astile – New PhD-student in AI and Electronics

Astile Peter has joined Mid Sweden University as a PhD student. His research will focus on applying AI-based measurement systems in the timber industry. Astile is also a part of the International Research School in Transformative Technology.

Nho Duc Tran joins STC for research on 6G networks

After studying Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in Vietnam, Nho Duc Tran joined STC Research Center at Mid Sweden University for a PhD. Focusing on Wireless Sensor Networks, the Internet of Things, and Edge Intelligence, he will contribute to the Ensure 6G project.
